Camp Nuo Officially Registered as a Community Based Organization
The group behind Mwiki's holiday camps formalised into a registered CBO with the Department of Social Development.
The Details
After running informal holiday camps and neighbourhood clean-ups for local children since 2019, the volunteers behind what would become Camp Nuo formally registered as a Community Based Organization with the Department of Social Development, State Department for Social Protection, Ministry of Labour and Social Protection — registration number KAS/CBO/5/4/2020/752.
The certificate was later issued on 15 December 2020 by the Kasarani Sub-County Social Development Office, signed by the County/Sub-County Social Development Officer.
Registration opened the door to formal partnerships with schools, the chief's office and county health volunteers that Camp Nuo's programs continue to rely on today — relationships that would have been far harder to build as an unregistered, informal group.

Why It Matters
Formal registration and transparent, regularly published reporting are what allow Camp Nuo to build lasting partnerships with schools, chiefs, health volunteers and donors — relationships that a purely informal volunteer group would find far harder to sustain over multiple years.
